What's Hot, What's Not

This is a monthly updated column that indicates what's hot and what's not in the media industry in my eyes at the moment. This varies from video games to a music group to a certain CD that is either very very good or should be steered clear of no matter what.

What's Hot-- If You Should Go--Armin Van Buuren [Track]

Arguably the main man in trance at the moment, Armin Van Buuren produces this absolute gem of a track. This is definately one of the hottest trance tracks of the moment and although it's doubtful that it will hit mainstream popularity, trance fans can rejoice in knowing that this track will light up the underground.

The track slowly builds into a driving rhythm, with Buuren using his trademark piano bassline and some gorgeous vocals throughout. The 8 minute club mix is by far the best mix of this song with one of the best breakdowns I've heard in a long time. This is a must-have track for anyone interested in trance music or music fans in general.

This track is an excellent indication as to what Armin Van Buuren is all about and why he is the best DJ in the world!

What's Not-- The Kooks--Konk [Album]

The new album from The Kooks fails to deliver on so many levels and despite the excellent debut album by the Brighton-based band this album just doesn't sound as fresh. There are some people that will lap up this new album simply because its by the Kooks but music fans and rock fans in general will find little in the way of fresh content here.
