TOP 10 SUPERHERO FILMS/TV
Overview
Superhero films are one of the most popular type of film to be released in the cinema and generate big revenue. With X-Men First Class, Green Lantern and Thor all being released in quick succession this month and Captain America and Transformers on the horizon, we thought it might be a good idea to count back the top 10 most memorable and unique superhero films. Enjoy!
NUMBER 10 |
Why? Hancock might not be the best superhero film but in terms of originality it does shine. The reluctant drunk Hancock is hated by everyone for his unorthodox way of tackling crime but its the way he turns it all round that makes the film good. |
NUMBER 9

NUMBER 8 - Monsters VS Aliens |
Why? A different breed of superhero story, the humorous tale of an alien invasion and monsters being sent to save the day is an original take on the genre and is executed well. It's also the funniest film on the list but isn't as much of a blockbuster as some of the other films on there. |
NUMBER 7

NUMBER 6
|
Why? The first Spiderman film is undoubtedly the best and well crafted. Green Goblin was a good villain throughout and combated Spiderman brilliantly but I felt the Harry/Peter angle could have been better. |
NUMBER 5
|
Why? The best X-Men film since the original sees Wolverine's past examined and its done well here. The complicated story with Sabretooth thrown into the mix is interesting to watch but Gambit's cameo appearance was just odd and didn't fit. |
NUMBER 4
|
Why? The first Season of Heroes is unquestionably a smart and unique take on the overcrowded genre. The pacing was excellent and the characters were, on the whole, likeable and believable. On top of that, Sylar was one of the best villains in any superhero story. |
NUMBER 3
|
Why? Christopher Nolan does a fantastic job of resurrecting the Batman films with this excellent origin story. The inclusion of Scarecrow is something the series hasn't seen before and the whole film is an excellent introduction to the new Batman. |
NUMBER 2
|
Why? The second Batman film from Christopher Nolan is not only better than Batman Begins, it also features the best Joker from any of the previous Batman films. The story is well executed and throwing Two-Face into the mix was a stroke of pure genius. |
NUMBER 1
|
Why? This is a real shocker for a lot of people until you stop and think about it. The theme is pretty much standard superhero story but the entertainment factor is excellent, as is the special effects and the music. On top of that, this is a new spin on the superhero genre by introducing a family dynamic and showing how a family of supers would deal with the situation. On top of that, the film never takes itself too seriously and the cheesy style of the art direction and film in general was a big nod towards the comic books that inspired it. |
